Meeting time is 11:00am under the departure boards at Manchester Piccadilly.

We’ll be getting the 11:17 TransPennine Express service to Greenfield (Uppermill’s closest station), which also stops at Stalybridge.

The cheapest ticket is an off-peak day return which costs £6.50. Greenfield is within the System One boundary, so if you have a County Card or a multi-mode day ticket (e.g. bus + train) you won’t need to buy an extra train ticket.

Return trains are at xx:47, all to Manchester Piccadilly. We’ll aim to get the 15:47, which gets back into Manchester at 16:08 (past experience suggests that getting the 14:47 is a bit too tight for time).

Part of the walk is along a canal path so it might be a bit muddy in places. The pub we are going to for lunch is also up a hill so this is probably the walk which involves the most exertion.
